The Philippines is widely known to be one of the best business processing outsource hubs in the world. Being second only to India in industry size is already testament to this.

But the industry did not come out of nowhere. The industry had small beginning way back in the early 1990's, when Accenture pioneered it there.

Chinese BPO?

It doesn't take a genius to know that China is now in its boom years, when giant investments are pouring in and a lot of people seem to be getting richer and richer. One of the industries the Chinese government is interested on entering is the billion-dollar BPO industry.

There will be a lot of challenges, though, as China is years away from its competitors India and the Philippines when it comes to English proficiency and Western affinity. Let's follow its progress.
